Boy Found Safe After Ride in Stolen Truck | Crime
BOULDER CITY, Nev. -- Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly stole a truck with a 5-year-old Henderson boy inside.
Police located the boy and abandoned truck on Nevada Highway in Boulder City about a half-hour after it was reported stolen. The boy was unharmed and happy to be reunited with his father. The boy told his father that he asked the suspect to take the truck back to his daddy.
The boy's father, Eric Kohn, said he had just put his son in the truck and was warming it up before 7 a.m. when he realized he had forgot his gym bag. The father said he went to retrieve his bag which was inside his home near the front door. Kuhn said as he stepped back out of his home he saw his truck speeding off.
Kohn said he called police immediately and gives them credit for acting so quickly to search for his son. Police officers from Metro, Henderson and Boulder City took part in the search.
The boy was discovered when a person living along the Nevada Highway heard a child yelling for his mother. The neighbor found the boy trying to get out of the back window of the abandoned truck.
Kohn said this frightening incident should be a note of warning to other parents, "Never leave your child alone, even for one second," he said.
Police say the boy gave them a vague description of the suspect as being dark-skinned, with fuzzy hair and a moustache.
