Thousands expected for Art in the Park event

Thousands are expected for the 52nd annual Art in the Park Festival in Boulder City in October.

Organizers said they are expecting 100,000 visitors to attend the festival over its two days Oct. 4 and 5.

Art in the Park is one of the largest festivals in the Southwest and it features hundreds of original artists, including fine art, contemporary crafts and traditional crafts.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 at Bicentennial and Escalante Parks. The festival is free to public. Besides the art work, there will be food and beverage vendors.

People are encouraged to be part of a fundraising raffle where the prizes are artworks from the 300 artists participating in the event. They are all donating at least one piece of artwork for the raffle.

This year’s featured artist is Boulder City native, Connie Burnett-Ferraro. She has been commissioned to create several murals around the town.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Boulder City Hospital.
