St. Jude's Needs Holiday Cards for Recycling Program

As the holiday decorations come down a lot of people are probably trying to figure out what to do with Christmas and other holiday cards.

The St. Jude’s Ranch for Children in Boulder City is accepting those cards for its recycling program.

The ranch takes in all kinds of cards, recycles them and packages them for resale. The money raised helps fund the ranch, which provides a home to neglected, abused and abandoned children in southern Nevada.

The program also helps kids in the ranch’s care to learn entrepreneurial and life skills. According to organizers, the program has received nearly 1 million cards from around the world.

One Day Left to Donate to Boy's Donation Drive

A 9-year-old Boulder City boy is inspiring hundreds of people to help the homeless.

For five years now, Blaze Trumble has been setting up donation boxes around Boulder City asking for jacket and blanket donations to give to those in need.

Last year, his family collected more than 700 items to hand out at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. This year, they're hoping for 900.

Blaze started his effort on this fifth birthday, which is November 25.

"When I was 5, I wanted to do something to help others instead of get gifts for myself. So, when I had a party, I asked my friends to bring some blankets and stuff over," Blaze said.

There is still time to donate. The Trumbles will be picking up all the donation boxes at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Some locations include Albertsons grocery store in Boulder City, and the Harley-Davidson stores in Henderson and Las Vegas.
