Henderson Police offer Citizen Academy | Crime
The Henderson Police Department is accepting applications for its upcoming Citizen Academy. The 13-week academy meets each Tuesday to educate citizens, with a unique insight into the life and training of a Henderson Police Officer.
During the 13-week academy, topics discussed include community policing, use of force, gang enforcement, detention center, communications, investigations division and narcotic enforcement. The Department's SWAT unit will demonstrate various firearms, less than lethal weapons and chemical agents. Students also will have the opportunity to fire various weapons.
Classes will be held each Tuesday starting May 17 at the Henderson Police Department, 223 Lead Street. Classes are held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Potential candidates must be at least 18 years old and live or work in Henderson.
