The Boulder City Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Movies in the Park Saturdaym, Aug. 9.

The movie “Fast & Furious 6” will be shown at Bicentennial Park. The event is from 7 to 11 p.m. Admission to the event is free.

A movie reviewer says there is a lot to enjoy at the Dam Short Film Festival in Boulder City this week.

A short-film festival is a lot like Mark Twain’s quote about the weather in New England: If you don’t like what you’re seeing, just wait a few minutes and it will change.

"American Graffiti" Featured in this Month's Movies in the Park

This month's Movies in the Park event will be more than just a screening of a popular film, instead it will feature a film classic and entertainment tied to the movie.

The film is the 1973 classic "American Graffiti," starring Richard Dreyfus and Ron Howard. Written and directed by "Star Wars" creator George Lucas, the film tells the story of friends spending one final night cruising the streets of their home town in 1962.

To go with the theme, the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce will also a live band, a car show and kids activities.

The gates open at 4 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Park. Activities start at 5 p.m. and the movie starts at 7:30 p.m.

Limited concessions are available. The entry fee is $10 per car. People are encouraged to bring their own blanket and chairs.

Movie in the Park Returns in August

The Boulder City Chamber of Commerce movie night is returning next month with the film "Oz, The Great and Powerful."

The gate opens at 6:30 p.m. August 10 at Veterans Park, Pratte Field. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.

There is a $10 per car entry fee and concessions are available but are limited. People can bring their own blanket and chairs. The event will not be rescheduled if it rains.

"Oz, The Great and Powerful" is a prequel to the iconic 1939 "Wizard of Oz." It stars James Franco as a carnival magician that gets carried to the land of Oz and becomes caught up in a power struggle between three witches. It is rated PG.

Dam Short Film Festival Returns to Boulder City

The Dam Short Film Festival is returning to Boulder City next week for its ninth year.

The screenings for the festival start Wednesday at the Boulder Theatre and continue through Saturday, February 9. The 146 films entered in the festival are grouped into several categories: Drama, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Horror, Documentary, Animation, Student and Nevada Filmmakers.

This year’s festival will feature a 90-minute Found Footage Festival featuring old videos found at garage sales, thrift stores and dumpsters around the country. That festival will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 7.

Tickets to each film program or showcase are $7, while a four-day pass is $75. Tickets are available at damshortfilm.org or at the door on the day of the show.

Boulder City Chamber to Host Halloween Celebration


The Boulder City Chamber of Commerce is celebrating Halloween with an all-day yard sale and drive-in movie.

The event is set for Saturday, October 27 at Veteran's Memorial Park.

The yard sale and motorcycle show will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Applications for booths are available at the chamber offices. Space to display or sell will be $25.

The trunk or treating will start at 5 p.m. There will a trunk decorating and costume contest with prizes for the best of both.

The movie "Monster House" will start at 7 p.m. Price is $10 per vehicle, which includes admission to a bounce house. Popcorn and cocoa will be available to purchase.

Parking for the event starts at 3:30 p.m.  

The Dillinger Celebrates One Year Anniversary with Block Party

A gourmet burger eatery is celebrating its one year anniversary with a block party.

The Dillinger is holding a party starting at noon Saturday, September 22 at 1224 Arizona Street.

The party will include live music from local Boulder City bands including Junkyard Dogs, Dude City and Same Sex Mary. There will also be a beer garden, a hot dog eating contest, a petting zoo and a giant beer pong game. Go to thedillinger.com, to register for a spot in beer pong contest.

The event is open to all ages and is free.
