Tortoise Adoption Fair Set for Tuesday

Southern Nevada is home to some fascinating creatures, and one of the most recognizable is the desert tortoise.

A local nonprofit dedicated to protecting the tortoise will be holding a meeting and adoption fair for the reptile in Boulder City next week.

From 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Boulder City Library, people can adopt a tortoise, learn how to turn their backyard into a sanctuary and understand how to care for the animal.

The meeting and adoption fair is being put on by the Tortoise Group. For more information about desert tortoise, go to tortoisegroup.org. It is free and open to the public.
