Cycling Event to Slow Traffic Near Lake Mead

A massive cycling event will slow traffic in the Lake Mead area on Saturday morning.

Visitors should expect delays on park roads from 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. because of the RTC 2012 Viva Bike Vegas Gran Fondo Pinarello bicycle event.

As many as 2,000 cyclists will travel along Lake Mead Parkway in Henderson, where they will enter the park and turn onto Lakeshore Road. Cyclists will exit the park at U.S. Highway 93 and head toward Hoover Dam.

The National Park Service is requiring all cyclists to travel in single file, except when passing. Parking will not be permitted along the cycling course. The park will remain open to the public during the event.
