Barbecue Challenge Returns Memorial Day Weekend

Some of the best barbecue in the country is returning to Boulder City for the 9th annual Best Dam Barbecue Challenge.

Pitmasters from around the country will compete over Memorial Day weekend for their share of $12,000 in cash prizes. The challenge is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society and will be judged by professionally trained barbecue judges.

Besides great food, the event includes a family-fun zone, live music, a classic car show and a marketplace full of vendors. There will also be a special grilling lesson and barbecue competition for kids. Plus, a rib-eating contest between the Boulder City Police and the Boulder City Fire Department.

The event is a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Boulder City, but it is free to the public. For more information, go to bestdambarbecue.com.

The challenge will be from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, May 24 and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Bicentennial Park.
