Water Balloons Banned from Damboree Parade

Groups interested in being part of the 65th annual Boulder City Damboree Celebration parade have until June 18 to submit an application or risk not being part of the parade.

The parade is set for 9 a.m. Thursday, July 4. It is just one piece of the big celebration held for Independence Day.

There will be a change to the parade rules this year, after organizers said a safety hazard was created last year when spectators and parade participants threw water balloons at each other.

All water balloons are now banned from the parade route. Security personnel will be looking through parade floats and vehicles for water balloons or other projectiles.

A designated water zone has been established for those who want to be part of water play.

The fee to enter the parade is now $25. Entries postmarked after June 18 will have to pay $50 to enter and will only be accepted if the announcer’s scripts have not been finalized.
