Devil Dash Returns to Bootleg Canyon

 

Registration is open for next month's Devil Dash 5K mud run and obstacle race at Bootleg Canyon Park in Boulder City.

During the race, runners plunge through mud pits, climb wooden walls and traverse nets, all with a seven deadly sins theme, to get to the finish line. Racers are also encouraged to dress in their favorite angel or devil costume.

The Devil Dash includes a beer garden of Eden and a music festival available to everyone for free.

This year's event includes a night race Friday, March 22. The day race will be Saturday, March 23.

Night of Lights Set for Saturday to Benefit St. Jude's Ranch

 

St. Jude's Ranch for Children will host its sixth annual Night of Lights holiday event Saturday.

The holiday celebration is from 5 to 9 p.m. at the ranch, 100 St. Jude's Road in Boulder City. Admission is $25 for an all-access wristband, which includes food from the owners of Campione D'Italia Restaurant. Children under 3 are admitted for free.

Families will enjoy the lighted grounds of the ranch, carolers, arts and crafts activities, a s'mores dessert station and a silent auction.

Santa will be escorted to the event by the U.S. Secret Service. He set to arrive at 5:30 p.m. Children will get a chance to get a photo with Santa.

After Santa's arrival, Bay Area hip-hop artist Alonzao "Turf' Jones will take the stage for an amazing dance and music performance. Jones was a contestant on "America's Got Talent."

Holiday Festivities Planned for Boulder City

 

Several holiday events are planned this weekend to kick off the season in Boulder City.

The Boulder City Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday at Frank Crowe Park. There will be live entertainment and hot chocolate.

The festivities continue Saturday at Bicentennial Park where children will be able to get their picture taken with Santa from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children who get their pictures taken will get a coloring book and goodie bag.

Santa’s Electric Night Parade will march through the Historic District starting at 4:30 p.m. Satuday. Lighted floats, bands and more will be part of the holiday tradition. 

Chili Cookoff Regional Finals Being Held in Boulder City

 

Some of the best chili in southern Nevada will be served up Friday and Saturday at the annual Chili Cookoff.

The event is sanctioned by the International Chili Society and is a regional event leading up to the World's Championship Chili Cookoff in Palm Springs, California next year.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hacienda Hotel and Casino's west parking lot. Admission is free. Besides the chili, there will be an arts and crafts show, a video poker tournament and entertainment.

There is a $5 donation to get a chili tasting cup. Chili tastings will be between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. People can vote for their favorite to win the people's choice prize.

Cyclists can show their support of military veterans Saturday by biking alongside them during the Honor Ride Las Vegas.

Lutefisk Feast Returns to Boulder City

 

It is time again for a Norwegian favorite to return the Elks Lodge in Boulder City.

Norway Desert Troll Lodge of the Sons of Norway will be serving lutefisk at the annual Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner Saturday. Lutefisk is a whitefish that has dried and processed with lye.

The dinner will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 1217 Nevada Highway. For those who are not fans of the famous fish, there will also be pork roast, potatoes, vegetables and Norwegian cookies.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for kids ages 5 to 12.
