Save $100 on Girl Scout Camp Foxtail Registration

It’s your summer, love it!

Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada is offering special anniversary pricing on Camp Foxtail registration as a celebration of 100 years of Girl Scouting. Save $100 on resident summer camp with session prices ranging from $50 to $295.

Camp Foxtail is located in the cool in the cool Spring Mountain Range, just 45 minutes from Las Vegas.

Summer sessions run through August 17 and a 10-day pre-registration is required.  Registration is available at girlscoutsnv.org.

Best Barbecue Returns to Bicentennial Park

 

The best of barbecue can be found this weekend at the Best Dam Barbecue Challenge.

The eighth annual event is from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at Bicentennial Park. The event is free and open to the public. There will be at least 42 teams competing for their slice of $10,000 in prizes. The cooking will be judged by professionally trained judges. The competition is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society.

The barbecue masters will have stiff competition from kid cooks. The KidsQue Challenge returns this year. Children 6 to 17 years old can compete in a grilling challenge. The first place winners in two age groups will walk away with $200.

Spring Jamboree Offers Activities for Everyone

Boulder City will be celebrating spring with the annual Spring Jamboree this weekend.

The festival starts 9 a.m. Saturday, 401 California Avenue. The event will feature arts and craft booths, food vendors, games, rides for kids, a dog show and a car show.

There will also be several different live acts on the stage, including performances by the Boulder City Community Theater and the Surf 67 Band. There will also be a movie in park on Saturday night.

The Spring Jamboree is free and open to the public. However, there will be fees for some vendors. The festival is being presented by the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce. For a complete schedule go springjamboree.com.

 

Devil Dash Sold Out

Devil Dash Sold Out

The devilishly delightful Devil Dash planned for next week at Bootleg Canyon is sold out.

The Devil Dash is a 5K mud run through an obstacle course featuring 14 deadly sin-themed obstacles from the Web of Lies to the Blood Bath and the Burning Ring of Fire. The race starts at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 12. The course will be open until 4:30 p.m. It is one of a series of obstacle course races held throughout the Southwest.

The event will feature a music festival and a beer garden, which they are dubbing the Beer Garden of Eden. It is free and open to all racers, family and friends of racers and spectators.

Beautification Project Won't Interfere with Spring Jamboree

The Boulder City Chamber of Commerce says the beautification project in the historic district will not interfere with the Spring Jamboree.

The beautification project is set to be finished this summer. The construction in the area will not impact people’s ability to get to the festival which starts at 9 a.m. Saturday. The chamber also says it will not impact parking for the weekend festival. There will be plenty of signs in the area directing jamboree-goers. The speed limit in the area is 15 miles per hour.

The Spring Jamboree is being held at 401 California Avenue. It will includes entertainment, food, beverages, art and craft booths and a car show. The festival is from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
