LAKE MEAD, Nev. - The National Park Service has downgraded its search for a missing man near Boulder Basin from a search and rescue to a search and recovery operation.
The man went missing from Boulder Basin near Lake Mead Saturday afternoon. Park Service officials say he jumped from a boat into the water to go swimming. Wind, however, pushed the boat away from him and beyond his reach. He was not wearing a lifejacket. Other occupants of the boat did not know how to operate it and were unable to reach him.
Search teams that included volunteers, as well as representatives from the Park Service, the Nevada Division of Wildlife and the U.S. Coast Guard have, so far, been unable to find the man.
