Officials at Lake Mead Looking for Missing Man

LAKE MEAD --  A search and rescue team will continue looking for a missing man last seen in the Boulder Basin area of Lake Mead.

The Nevada Park Service says the search Saturday turned up no sign of the man. Authorities received the initial call around 2:30 in the afternoon. The man apparently went missing after jumping into the lake for a swim, without wearing a life vest. The winds then pushed the boat away. The other occupants on the boat, a female adult and child, did not know how to operate the boat and called 9-1-1. The two were eventually brought to safety.

Search and Rescue crews used sonar equipment and an aircraft to try and scan the choppy waters. They called off the search around 8 p.m.

The Nevada Park Services is starting its search back up Sunday morning. Officials say there is still a chance the man could be alive, since he's a service member stationed at Creech Air Force base, and is in excellent physical condition.
