Standoff Stops Traffic on Hoover Dam
News

LAS VEGAS -- Traffic was stopped on the Hoover Dam after a vehicle didn't stop at a security checkpoint on the Nevada side about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, National Park Service spokesman Randy LaVasseur said.

After the vehicle didn't stop, ram gates were immediately deployed, blocking in the vehicle, he said.

The man driving the vehicle barricaded himself inside his vehicle and taunted officers to shoot him, LaVasseur said.

The man was taken into custody about 6 p.m., Metro Police spokesman Bill Cassell said.
