Echo Bay Marina to Close February 1 | News
Echo Bay Marina in the Lake Mead Recreation Area will be closing February 1 after the National Park Service received no bids to operate the marina.
The contract for the current operator, Forever Resorts, expires January 31. The group operates and maintains the 365-slip marina, fuel dock, small boat rental, dry-boat storage, trailer and RV park.
The park service offered up the 10-year contract for bids in October. Although there was some interest expressed, no one submitted a proposal.
A transition team has been established to help the nearly 100 boat owners that are paying for slips on a month-to-month basis find a place at other marinas on the lake.
“It is unfortunate that we have to ask people to leave the Echo Bay Marina after they have spent years vacationing here,” said Dickinson. “Our transition team looked into a variety of options to try to bring a concessioner to Echo Bay.”
The park is also trying to change a contract allowing them to take over the trailer village, RV campsites, dry-boat storage and land-based fuel station.
