A community prayer and memorial service is set for Saturday to honor the family that died in their Boulder City home last week.
According to Henderson Police, Metro Police lieutenant Hans Walters shot his wife, Michelle, and their 5-year-old son, Max. He then set their house on fire and when police arrived, he shot and killed himself.
The Boulder City Christian Ministerial Association is sponsoring the prayer service which is set for 1 p.m. at the St. Andrews Catholic Church, 1399 San Felipe Drive. Local Christian pastors and leaders will offer prayers and brief remarks.
The entire community is invited to attend.
Metro Police have set up a fund for the family of Michelle Walters, who was a former Metro officer, and her son. Donations can be made to the Michelle and Max Memorial Fund at the Wells Fargo Bank Green Valley Parkway and Pebble Branch.
