Acts of Kindness: Sydney Ingram
News

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Every Thursday at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, special services are arranged for indigent veterans who have passed away.

Sydney Ingram with the Women Veterans of Nevada helps honor these brave men and women.

“We need to honor these men no matter what put them on the streets, what caused them to be so alienated that nobody wants to claim their body. They did serve,” she said.

The Patriot Guard and Women Veterans of Nevada supply volunteers for the service, while the Vietnam Veterans of America perform the burial services.

Ingram is a Navy veteran whose brother, a Green Beret, died in Vietnam in 1965. She's also the bereavement director for the veterans club, helping folks get services, insurance and anything else they may need.

“Everybody in Sun City Anthem knows Sydney, and they know if they need anything, she's the one to call,” Ingram's colleague Kay Dwyer said. “She's just one of those giving people who never says, ‘No.'”

“I send cards. Sometimes, I take them up here. Their spouses can be with them,” Ingram said.

Ingram says it's a small part of how she can honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and assist those who have lost a spouse or other family member.

8 News NOW is rewarding Sydney Ingram, awarding her $800 as part of its weekly series Acts of Kindness.
