Girl Scouts Invade Hoover Dam for Anniversary Party

Girl Scouts will take over Hoover Dam on March 10 to celebrate their 100th anniversary, gathering near Boulder City to mark the group’s beginnings in the area.

The event begins at 7 a.m. in the lower Arizona parking lot. Girl Scouts will be treated to a pancake breakfast. A short presentation will be made at 8 a.m. and participants will begin their walk across the Hoover Dam at 8:20 a.m. A commemorative aerial photo will be taken of the group on the Hoover Dam, courtesy of Papillon Helicopters and photographer Frank Carroll. The event is expected to conclude at 9 a.m.

St. Jude's Receives Grant to Fix, Open Pool

A significant grant will allow St. Jude’s Ranch for Children in Boulder City to refurbish and open its pool this summer.

The ranch received $11,400 from Marvin Paulson, a private donor, to pay for new plaster and tile in and around the pool, and a new pump and vacuum line large enough to manage the amount of water needed to operate the pool.

A pool party marked the reopening for close to 60 children and staff members.
