Henderson Restaurant Supply will partner with Adopt a Rescue Pet (ARP) on a silent auction and raffle fundraiser at 6 p.m. on April 28 at Tommy Rocker’s Mojave Beach Bar & Grill, 4275 Dean Martin Dr.

ARP has a $70,000 balloon payment due May 1, and proceeds from the event will assist in meeting the $70,000 obligation. Closure of the sanctuary would be disastrous to the approximately 300 pets in the ARP program that would be immediately displaced and may face euthanasia if not re-homed, not to mention pets that need placement in the future that might have nowhere to go. Any funds raised over and above the necessary $70,000 will be allocated to veterinary care for animals entering into ARP programs or awaiting medical sterilization prior to adoption.

Event organizers are seeking donated auction/raffle items for the event through April 26, including gift baskets, gift/product certificates and services.

One of Nevada's largest animal rescue shelters might have to close if it cannot raise sufficient money to avoid foreclosure on its Amargosa Valley dog sanctuary.

Adopt A Rescue Pet (ARP) has less than 45 days to raise $70,000 to pay off the pending balloon payment for its five-acre dog sanctuary in Amargosa Valley. Private foundation grant funding was to have provided the money in January, but when the foundation suddenly went defunct, the non-profit pet rescue organization found itself in trouble.

"We are deeply concerned about the future of pets in the Las Vegas area if we are not able to secure the funding necessary to keep our doors open," ARP Founder Elizabeth Rubin said.
