Campground Renovation Beginning at Lake Mead

Improvements to the Las Vegas Bay Campground at Lake Mead National Recreation Area will close a handful of campsites.

Renovation is beginning near the first loop of the campground, near sites 1-7 and 59-85. Native trees and shrubs, as well as a drip irrigation system, will be installed. Park officials say the purpose is to promote water conservation and provide shade, privacy and windbreak.

The remainder of the loop and campground will remain open during the $200,000 renovation, funded by the sale of federal lands in southern Nevada.
