Free Fishing Day Planned for June | Sports & Recreation

Anglers of every age will get a chance to fish for free Saturday, June 9. Nevada Department of Wildlife’s Free Fishing Day will allow people to fish at any public waterway without a license or trout stamp.
The event will be available at two places in southern Nevada: Veterans Memorial Park pond in Boulder City and at Floyd Lamb State Park. The event in Boulder City will include a fishing derby for all ages. There will also be booths where people can learn about the fish and plants found around southern Nevada. Experts will be on hand to show people how to tie knots, select bait and fish safely.
Registration for the Boulder City event starts at 7:30 a.m. The fishing will be from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The Floyd Lamb Park event will start at 7:30 a.m. Loaner rods and tackle will be available from the Nevada Department of Wildlife. The equipment must be returned by noon. It is also sponsored by Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross.
