Santa Train Sets Off Saturday

A tradition of the holiday season starts chugging again this weekend.

The Santa Train in Boulder City opens Saturday. The train runs every Saturday and Sunday through December 18.  It leaves the station every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The ride is a half-hour down the historic tracks of the Boulder Branch Line.

Besides the train ride, there is a toy train exhibit, an 1875 Eureka steam locomotive on display and Santa’s mailbox plus food and cocoa is for sale. The train leaves from the Nevada State Railroad Museum Depot which is on Yucca Street off U.S. 93 in Boulder City. This is a popular event so visitors are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes before departure.

Tickets are $5 per seat. The rides are often sold out. The museum spokesperson says people should buy tickets in advance by going to the museum offices Tuesday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on Saturdays and Sundays starting at 9:30 a.m.
