Mountain Bike Relay Race Set for Saturday
Mountain Bike Relay Race Set for Saturday

A bike race considered by organizers to be the first of its kind in southern Nevada arrives Saturday at Bootleg Canyon Mountain Bike Park in Boulder City.

“24 Hours of Bootleg Canyon” is a relay mountain bike race on a lap course, with each lap taking the average rider between 60 and 90 minutes to complete, while guiding them through miles of amazing desert singletrack overlooking Lake Mead.

Races include relay teams with up to three riders. The ride ends with an awards ceremony and celebratory barbecue for the entire family to enjoy with participants. The race benefits the local Toys for Tots Campaign; athletes and spectators attending the event are asked to bring one unwrapped child's toy as a donation.

The event begins at 7 a.m. and includes both six- and 12-hour races. The barbecue starts at noon and the awards ceremony begins at 8 p.m.
